 1947

First picture of Ian taken around the end of September.

 1948

Big ears in Ian's pram.

 1948 (again)

Ian and his Dad (Bill) in the back garden at 1 Galesway,
Woodford Green, then in Essex.

1949

Sitting on a wall in the back garden along from the chicken hut. Ian is holding his baby walker with its coloured wooden blocks.

1950

Studio picture taken just before going to nursery school in Woodford. In the summer we went to Crackington Haven, staying in 'the Manor' (Mrs Heal), a short walk away from the beach.

Crackington Haven, on the north coast of Cornwall just south of Bude, had been a regular choice for summer holidays for the Davies and the Goodalls since the 1930s. The beach had everything - sand, rocks, cliffs and the essential stream.

1951

The tide is well out - some people were stranded on an incoming tide on the rocks in the background.
1952

Greatstone, near Dungeness in Kent, was the choice for the summer holiday. It was the last holiday before the move from Woodford to Islay in the spring of the following year.

No pictures (so far) for 1953, the year of the move from London to the Isle of Islay. Ian & Moira's parents made a courageous decision to 'start a new life' in Bonahaven, of whisky fame.

1954

This picture was probably near Blandford Forum (with the Wyatts) or when staying with Marjorie and Laurens (the Van Lottoms) near Gloucester.
