Studio
picture taken just before going to nursery school in Woodford.
In the summer we went to Crackington Haven, staying in 'the Manor'
(Mrs Heal), a short walk away from the beach. |

Crackington
Haven, on the north coast of Cornwall just south of Bude, had
been a regular choice for summer holidays for the Davies and
the Goodalls since the 1930s. The beach had everything - sand,
rocks, cliffs and the essential stream. |

The tide
is well out - some people were stranded on an incoming tide on
the rocks in the background. |

Greatstone,
near Dungeness in Kent, was the choice for the summer holiday.
It was the last holiday before the move from Woodford to Islay
in the spring of the following year. |

No pictures
(so far) for 1953, the year of the move from London to the Isle
of Islay. Ian & Moira's parents made a courageous decision
to 'start a new life' in Bonahaven, of whisky fame. |

This
picture was probably near Blandford Forum (with the Wyatts) or
when staying with Marjorie and Laurens (the Van Lottoms) near
Gloucester. |
